Being part security guard and part magpie allows me unprecedented access to discarded shiny things. One such recent find was a copy of "Australian Geographic", a magazine devoted to the natural wonders of Australia.
Where else in one magazine could I learn about the magic of
Uluru, the resurgent
Wollemi pine, the world's most beautiful pest (
the sulphur-crested cockatoo), or pioneering aviator
Nancy Bird? In print, that is.
What an amazing hour I spent devouring this handsome magazine. With many more (issues and hours) to come, I hope.
