Twitching the House Finch
I've been trying for a year to get a clear picture of one of these sweet little birds, but they've always eluded me. Until today.

We have lots of purple finches here and still come to the feeder. They're pretty but pigs when it comes to sunflower seeds!
I was surprised to read that they are considered pests in an orchard, since finches are seed eaters.
But it would explain why there are so many of them around just now. Our wild berries are all blooming.
