"Sabotage" by Beastie Boys



Birthday wishes go out to Mike D, whose nearly thirty year tenure as drummer with the Beastie Boys has produced a rock/rap hybrid known as rapcore yet only seven albums. Still, there's something to be said for choosing quality over quantity...

Sabotage was the 1st single from the band's 1994 fourth album Ill Communication; the accompanying video, directed by Spike Jonze, is an affectionate parody of 70s cop shows, such as Hawaii Five-0, Streets of San Francisco, S.W.A.T., Baretta, and Starsky and Hutch. Mike D's character in this clip is billed as Alasondro Alegré as 'The Chief'...

You gotta love Michael Diamond. I'm trying to figure when he looked coolest, in the Knicks T-shirt in So Whatcha Want or in the velour tracksuit in Denny's Girl.

Licensed to Ill was the first album I ever bought (or used my parent's money to buy, in reality)
I managed to temper that first dip into the lake of taste by buying the Europe album, and it's been downhill ever since.
