One thing you could never say about Queen Paola of The Belgians is that she hogs the spotlight.This, for instance, is the best current picture of her available, shown full sized; it's a few years old. Her website is the the nadir of Belgian abysmalism, and despite seven decades in Europe's exalted class, little is known of her, save her good works and still-extraordinary beauty. Good enough for me!

haha, I can attest to Belgian abysmalism. I've been in Brussels all week and I had no idea they still even had a royal family, let alone it was the Queen's birthday. It's all that 7%-and-up beer. I had too many last night and I'm certainly in no mood to celebrate today!
They are well low-key those Belgian royals; no British-style tabloid hijinks for them!
Will wonders never cease.
They certainly are reserved.
